Midea 12000 BTU garbage after 3 months

I purchased a Midea 12000 BTU heat and air unit after 3 months just out of the blue stopped working electric getting current reset button was okay broke the entire unit down and it's got to be in the control panel circuit board and they say they won't even warranty it because of where it was purchased do not ever purchase anything from Midea

Rusting less than two months after installation

Purchased 3 of these ACs. They were installed the end of May beginning of June. It is now mud July. The AC is rusting. Nothing over AC or dripping on it. Reached out to midea and was asked if a lot of rain. I said no, but they are outside units n should have rust corrosion protection. I told the guy all 3 exposed to same elements and only one rusting. I sent pics as requested, followed up with an email and I have not heard back. Its been 3 days. I do not recommend these units.Mary

Works and Looks Awesome

I cant say enough how happy I am with this new A/C. It os super quiet and doesny block nearly that much of my window as other A/Cs i’ve had. I can also still close my blinds, too. The only drawback are the crappy installation instructions and not so helpful video. The instructions could provide better step by step directions and pictures. Also, my window was about a half inch longer than their max width length and it still fit fine.

In operation this is the finest window air conditioner I could imagine. It’s so impossibly quiet when it can run on medium or low levels. Even on high it’s much quieter than a standard AC. The controls are great, although the lack of AppleHome implementation is annoying. The only downfall of the AC is the installation takes many steps, and although it includes a support, the setup is fiddly. If you install it and leave it in permanently it’s not a big deal, but I’ll remove it in the fall every year. I’m inclined to make my own window adapter to avoid the extra foam and screws that are required. For this reason alone I’m only giving it four stars.

Saw this on the internet and needed for our bedroom that faces the West side which gets lots of Sunlight, easy to install , i did have to buy a plank wood board to level it and some more insulation. It’s quite and you can control it with your phone,A good buy.

New remote sucks

I have purchased two 8,000 btu and one 12,000 btu. I like the way they fit in the window but i didn't use the sponges to seal they were for 38"window and i have 53" windows so i cut a 2x4 to slide in the window tracks groves and fit around the ac It is the right height so that the window closes all the way down perfect as long as you buy some window weather stripping to get a good seal. The AC's run great but my remote control went bad and they sent me a new updated cracker jack box remote

Avoid at all costs

This is AC is great... when it functions. However, Midea chose to cut a lot of corners for the sake of one innovative design choice. No proper drainage holes leads to a fishy smell VERY quickly, a cheap quality remote which barely functions, and the notorious EC07 code which can be triggered in even brand new units. Even so, Midea has opted NOT to acknowledge their product's manufacturing defects, instead more or less hoping their customers will just buy a new unit or not make too much of a fuss. Let me put it this way. At the rate people are getting EC07 issues, there's a good chance the u-shaped units will get recalled soon enough. Yes, it's that bad. Don't fall for the marketing hype. This thing is NOT designed for longevity or with the customer's best interests in mind.

Easy to install, love the remote!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We absolutely love our new u- shaped air conditioner from Midea! I love how well it works, how easy it was to install and the remote! This u shaped air conditioner was a breeze to install. We have a house with older windows and this unit went in with no trouble at all. I love how much more secure it feels with the window closed further AND I love how much more energy efficient it is to have so much more of the window closed than with traditional shaped units. After a quick installation following the instructions, this unit was ready to go and cooling down our back room really quickly. The thermostat is really effective and keeps the room at the preset temperature really efficiently. I have noticed a drop in our electric bill compared to last year with a less efficient window unit. The remote is very convenient and easy to use. I also really love the humidity control this unit allows you to have. My husband has several guitars in the room we use this unit for and it helps keep the humidity at a safe level for his guitars, no matter the conditions outside. Overall this is a fantastic unit that's designed well, easy to use and energy efficient! I'm so happy with it!
